What is an Esport Company

Games make people learn, have fun, and develop hundreds of skills – all thanks to the work of video game development companies.

This is said because they are in charge of creating the stories that are seen on the screens from scratch because they not only think about them, but they also execute them and take them to reality with all the necessary elements for them to be successful.

Proof of them are all the titles they have presented, which have managed to transcend and please several generations, for this reason, and because you love the gamer world, there are some of the best companies that develop videogames.

For these videogames to reach consumers, physical sales are no longer used so frequently, but somewhat digital platforms have been chosen, which are the ones mentioned above. These function as a Marketplace for developers and companies to market their products directly.

These, as well as virtual app stores, have the objective of allowing companies to increase their exposure and generate income in exchange for specific commitments. That is why the inclusion of this Venezuelan videogame would not only be a milestone for what it represents in the technological evolution of the country but also demonstrates that the barriers to capitalizing any passion are increasingly lower.

Currently, the video game market is one of the most profitable in the world, mainly because dozens of alternative businesses arise from it. One of the most relevant is that of advertising since video games would be one of the essential expenses in the area, exceeding one billion dollars.

In this way, we can see how there are fewer and fewer limitations for entrepreneurs anywhere in the world to start generating income.  While it is true that video games can be a niche product, the reality is that virtually all skills can be capitalized on today, and these entrepreneurs demonstrate it.

Here are the most valued companies in esports.

Valve  Corporation

Valve Corporation is an American developer of video games and a digital content distribution platform.

Founded in 1996, it quickly made a name for itself with the launch of Half-Life and Counter-Strike. It has also developed the Source video game engine and the Steam digital distribution platform. Its product catalog is completed with the Portal sagas, Left 4 Dead, Team Fortress, among others.

In the classifications by a current number of players, CS: GO comes out as the second game behind Dota2, another of the games that Valve has, although the competition in income is greater on the part of CS: GO, since Dota2 is a F2P with microtransactions.

We would be talking about a direct competition for the best-selling title with another title such as Team Fortress, but like Dota 2, play at a disadvantage for being free to play, only being able to compete with CS: GO for the maximum number of users.

Although Counter-Strike: Global Offensive has serious competition from Dota2, Valve’s powerful war horse ranks third among the most prominent e-sports this year, and this is because it has added players considerably in a considerable time.

It is important to note that these users are going to grow as it is one of the three most popular games in esports worldwide, and for this reason, as the new tournaments approach, they will continue to attract more people.

Riot Games

What started as a gamer passion of two college buddies became the most played video game in the world. We’re talking about League of Legends, which is a competition between two five-player teams that have been in the market for 10 years.

To this day, its developers can boast of its 27 million players connected daily. That figure places League of Legends as the most played PC video game in the world: it surpasses, in this sense, other popular titles within esports such as Counter-Strike: Global Offensive or Dota 2.

Naturally, this popularity is transferred to the field of electronic sports. In 2011, the first championship was held that distributed $100,000 and had more than one and a half million spectators in the streaming during the event. Over the years, there has been an increase in the number of prizes, the number of players and spectators who are waiting for the best plays. Last year’s championship distributed a total of $6,450,000.

Riot Games organized its tournaments in regional leagues that have their championships and define a representative who then competes in the world championship where the 24 best teams in the world will be measured. This also includes rapporteurs, commentators, match analysts. A whole industry that revolves around a video game.

Worlds is the last and most prestigious competition that League of Legends has during the year. There the best compete: it has several stages where teams are eliminated and are played in several countries. This year the venues are Germany, Spain, and France.

Not only this extraordinary video game has a large number of loyal players and professional leagues, but also the number of spectators in Europe has increased significantly, and along with the celebrations for the ten years of League of Legends and World events, such esport will be the first place in 2019 of all electronic sports globally.

Blizzard Entertainment

World of Warcraft, Overwatch, Diablo, Hearthstone, and Starcraft. Five titans in their respective genres, as well as five timeless icons of the videogame. The common factor: the unmistakable touch of Blizzard Entertainment. A formula and at the same time, a philosophy that implies transmitting the values and DNA of the company in each project with a singular purpose: that the player goes beyond what a simple game can offer.

Blizzard Entertainment has established itself as one of the top references among developers and publishers. However, it also radiates a different way of understanding digital entertainment, which ends up translating into an identity of its own as in Disney or Nintendo projects. In a certain way, and as in the two previous examples, associated with a distinctive artistic style. But of course, that would just be scratching the surface.

Blizzard has announced that its MOBA, Heroes of the Storm, will leave the competitive scene in 2019, canceling its presence in esports competitions and confirming that it reduces staff and internal presence. This does not mean the cessation of the development or release of future heroes, but it does mean a hard setback for the videogame. As the parents of World of Warcraft have explained, this is a decision that seeks to “guarantee the life of the game in the long term.”

Blizzard’s idea is to continue supporting the game with new heroes, events and other content, but with less priority and activity in terms of updates. The company has seriously evaluated the presence of MOBA in high-level competitions, and therefore, believes that the correct thing is to leave the esports panorama during 2019. There will be neither Heroes Global Championship nor Heroes of the Dorm next year.

Epic Games

Today’s video game industry can be divided into a before and after the arrival of the battle royale, a video game genre that came to earn a place of honor within the heart of gamers around the world. One of the most prestigious companies within this type of game is undoubtedly Epic Games, the developers of ‘Fortnite,’ the most probably most successful game within the whole genre.

2017 was a final year within Epic Games as the studio decided to participate in the battle royale genre with a little-known game called ‘Fortnite.’ What they didn’t know at Epic Games is that the game would catapult them into being one of the most relevant and valued studies within the entire entertainment industry.

Fortnite’ arrived in 2017 with an entirely different proposal in which it stands out the fact of not having a defined protagonist character. However, a game map in which 100 players face each other and only one of them has the opportunity to emerge victorious after very intense minutes.

The game quickly became a worldwide phenomenon, and by the end of 2019, the odds are high to reach the figure of 3.5 billion dollars. What fans don’t know much about is that the title in its beginnings is not what we know today, but originally it was something much more like a zombie survival.

In 2012, developers understood that to stay in the limelight, they needed a progression system similar to that seen in other role-playing games. Unfortunately, economic problems prevented the injection of the necessary capital from carrying out these adjustments. In 2013, the game was delayed until early July 2017, when it was released for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

The title was first revealed in 2011 when Epic director Cliff Bleszinski presented the first trailer of the game called ‘Fortnite: Save The World’ that was conceived as a cooperative survival game of third-person shooting. The game forced participants to work as a team to save 2% of the world’s population that had survived a terrible apocalypse.

But Epic Games has a history much more extensive than many gamers may think, since in its more than 20 years of history has developed numerous titles such as ‘Gears of War’ or technologies such as the Unreal engine, which is why today we are going to review the extensive history of one of the studios that today is going through one of its best moments without a doubt.
