Amid the Coronavirus, there is a special group of people who continues to work hard in helping other people. This group of people are also known as teachers, professors, or educators. Let’s face it, nearly all schools in the United States are closed due to the pandemic, and the majority of teachers will have to work from home. In most cases, schools are not going to be able to have enough laptop units to give to all teachers, and most teachers will not have a relatively fast computer to use. This will cause many educators to spend money on a new unit. Teaching is not the highest paying job out there, so Esports Mention understands that not every teacher in need of a new computer will be able to spend upwards to over $500 dollars on a new system.

So for today’s article, we will take a look at all the great options for teachers to obtain an up-to-standards machine for working at home.

Route 1: DIY PC for Teachers

Building a PC yourself is certainly fun, and there are definitely bonus points to this. If you value aesthetics, such as a see-through window, or want to have easily upgradeable components, then the DIY route is for you. This route often gives a decent value and allows you to decide what to purchase. Now the downside of this: DIY-ing a PC will require you to watch some instructional PC-building videos online. You will also need a relative or family member that is somewhat knowledgeable with basic software (such as the installation of Windows, Office 365, etc…) if you lack the skills. We put together a $500-ish after-tax system with the PC, Monitor, Keyboard, and Mouse that you can DIY. Make sure you read the description on the linked page for a brief explanation!

Route 2: Used Office PC for Teachers

If you do not want to spend over $200 and don’t really care about aesthetics or buying a used PC, then the Used Office PC route may be for you. This involves buying a second-hand or refurbished Office PC and a cheap monitor from market places like Ebay, Amazon, Newegg etc.

Don’t worry, this PC will not be as slow as you think. See the computer and monitor combo below.

  • And Radeon free sync technology. No compatibility for VESA Mount
  • Refresh rate: 75 hertz - Using HDMI port

Both the desktop and the Monitor can be obtained easily from market places like Amazon or Ebay. They are both ready to be used out-of-the-box. As with the DIY computer, this system will handle any web-browsing and video-watching. However, this isn’t recommend for light gaming, as it lacks the powerful integrated graphics of the Athlon 3000G. You also will not need a separate graphics card for the desktop.

Route 3: Pre-built Gaming PCs Out of the Box

For people who want a more modern-looking system and have mid-range hardware, this is a more expensive setup. This prebuilt computer is great for anyone who wants to do some more advanced stuff such as light photo and video editing, gaming, and light workstation.

Route 4: Laptops and Notebooks

There are many great laptops for under $500 that will get the job done. These laptops will handle any web and video-watching task, just like the desktops above. Here are some of our recommendations.

Hope this helps those teachers working from home during this time. Stay safe!
